March Programs at Rogers EE Center

RogersCenterInWinterMarch is the time when winter is ending and spring is showing signs of arrival. Rogers Center has many opportunities for you to explore this time of change. March programs include nature walks, learning to find your way outdoors, and building nest boxes for bluebirds. Take a look!

10:00 AM

Adams Farm Mud Walk

Walk along the muddy trails of Adams Farm and look for signs of spring. Wear your boots. Please call to register.

10:00 AM

Search for the Pot-O-Gold

Choose between using a GPS, map and compass, or a rebus (a puzzle with a picture suggesting a phrase) to find the prize. We’ll have several trails set up for this family fun! Please call to register and for details.

Animal Babies

Find out how local wildlife species give birth and raise their young. Learn the differences between animals that start out as eggs and those that are live-born and the amount of care different animal babies need.

Bluebird Nest Box Building

Build a nest box to encourage bluebirds to live nearby so we can all enjoy seeing and hearing them. $10.00 for each box you build and take home. Bring a hammer. Please call to register.

6:30 PM to 8:00 PM

Senior Series: Night Hike

Enjoy a leisurely evening stroll to learn about crepuscular and nocturnal animals and their special adaptations for evening and nighttime activity. Bring a flashlight. Please call to register and for details.

Special Programs!

Come explore the Center grounds as we witness seasonal changes. Take a walk with Rogers Center staff and learn more about the wonders of the natural world. Walks occur most Saturdays at 1:30 PM. Please call for more information. Families and individuals welcome. Meet at Rogers Visitor Center. Dress appropriately for the weather. Free.

Rogers Center is operated by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. The not-for-profit Friends of Rogers, Inc. helps support the Centers programs and special events. Rogers Center is located one mile west of Sherburne on Route 80. It is 45 minutes south of Utica via Route 12, one hour north of Binghamton via Route 12, and 75 minutes southeast of Syracuse via Routes 20 east and 12 south. The Visitor Center and grounds are open year round to the public, and admission is free.
