New York State Inclusive Recreation Resource Center Invites You to Inclusion U
Become a Certified Inclusivity Assessor! Learn about best practices in inclusion and accessibility so that you can assess sites and facilities for physical, administrative, and programmatic inclusion. Help build a state-wide system that provides accurate and descriptive information about recreation places and spaces. Whether you are a person with a disability, family member, recreation provider, educator, student, or advocate, this training is for you!
The New York State Inclusive Recreation Resource Center, founded in January 2007, has become a state-wide training resource for people with disabilities, recreation and outdoor education providers, tourism professionals, and students who want to learn how to achieve inclusion and accessibility at their sites and facilities.
Full-day Inclusion U trainings:
- Teach best practices in inclusion
- Certify attendees to use the Inclusivity Assessment Tool
- Empower attendees to make a positive difference!
Over 700 Certified Inclusivity Assessors across the state have worked to increase accessibility and inclusion. Whether it is a park, bowling alley, library, or boating pier, information collected during assessments is now available in an on-line database to assist people with disabilities better plan their recreation.

- March 20th Saratoga Springs (ONLY $30.00 for NYSRPS and NYSTRA conference attendees!!)
- May 6th Schenectady region
- June 2nd West Seneca region
- August 26th Poughkeepsie region
- September 24th Paul Smith’s College
- November 3rd SUNY Cortland
The cost of this training is $95.00 and includes the bound Inclusivity Tool Manual and tool kit. The March 20th training in Saratoga Springs is a pre-institute of both the New York State Therapeutic Recreation Association Conference and the New York State Recreation and Park Society Conference, being held in Saratoga Springs that week. For that training only, we are offering a special reduced rate of $30.00 (a $65.00 savings) to all Inclusion U attendees who are registered for either conference.
