SCA Environmental Education Grants – Upstate New York

SCA, a leading global hygiene and forest products company with sites in South Glens Falls, Saratoga and Greenwich, is accepting applications for its 2015-16 Environmental Education Grant Program from K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations in the area.


The annual grant program supports sustainability projects that encourage students and young learners to identify environmental issues in their communities and propose long-lasting solutions.


Schools and 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations with projects or programs that involve environmental education of K-12 students are invited to apply for grant funding up to $5,000. Applications are due Nov. 15, 2015. The online application and more information are available at Awardees will be announced in December.


Since launching the program in 2007, SCA has awarded nearly $260,000 in environmental education grants to 107 schools and organizations in the six regions where it has operations across the United States.


In upstate New York, SCA has awarded more than $57,000 in grants to 25 schools.  Past local grants have supported a variety of environmental education initiatives such as a long-term water quality and groundwater safety study, an outdoor classroom solar electricity project, recycling projects, and climate specific vegetable gardening projects.
