2017 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends of Outdoor Education,

Winter Weekend marks the beginning of the NYSOEA Annual Appeal that culminates with Environmental Education Week (April 23th-29nd, 2017) and Earth Day.  In 2015 NYSOEA started a new tradition and organized regional events during this special time of year to bring new and old members together in celebration of a cleaner and greener earth. Your donation is needed more than ever as we strive to increase our organizational Endowment. We have the goal of a $100,000 Endowment by the year 2018 when NYSOEA turns 50 years old. Imagine a dedicated reserve whose interest can fund existing and new programs, grants and scholarships to further outdoor education into the next 50 years and beyond. Through managed investments, fundraising at our annual auction and generous donations during our annual appeal, we have been able to grow this fund substantially.  Last year we raised nearly $3,000 for NYSOEA initiatives and we hope to do better this year! Your contributions today will have lasting results beyond our professional careers.

Not only have we grown our financial securities, but through countless volunteer hours we continue long-lasting NYSOEA traditions such as the Annual Conference and Winter Weekend, produce our quarterly publication Pathways, maintain our informative website, send five campers to the DEC camps through our Brother Yusuf Camper Scholarships, and host countless regional events and programs. I invite you to review the achievements of the New York State Outdoor Education Association in this year’s Annual Report, found at www.nysoea.org. In it, be reminded that we are stronger as a group than as individuals, and through the wisdom of the founders of this organization, the company we share enriches us.

The New York State Outdoor Education Association represents its members and over 40 affiliate organizations by promoting outdoor and environmental education throughout New York State.   Each year, our professions connect people of all ages and walks of life with the outdoors, the interdisciplinary discoveries that surround us in nature.

Your tax-deductible contribution will advance the efforts of NYSOEA to connect people with the wide-open, boundless educational wonders of the great outdoors.  All donations, large and small, are greatly appreciated.  Donations of $100 or more will receive a complimentary glass maple leaf jar of syrup and if you donate $250 or more, you will receive the syrup and a two-year complimentary NYSOEA membership.  Please make a donation today by going to www.NYSOEA.org or sending a check via mail.

Gratefully,
