Position: Nature/Science Instructor

 

Position Summary: The William Osborn Day Camp at Children’s Aid-Goodhue Center in Staten Island, New York is a summer program that provides youth with an enriched learning summer experience that supports their academic, social-emotional, and physical well-being.  We are seeking a summer nature/science instructor for the summer day camp.  The instructor will work with groups of children ages 5-13, teaching basic nature/ science concepts in a hands-on experience exploring the outdoors. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement lessons appropriate for each age group
  • Lead 3-4 workshops per day
  • Order supplies
  • Maintain nature area

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or currently in college studying relevant degree
  • Must have an excellent understanding of nature topics such as trees, water, animal life, woodland, orienteering, hiking, environment, etc.
  • Past experience working with children
  • Ability to work outdoors
  • Creative, dynamic and loves to work with children
  • Able to work independently

 

Dates, Time and Salary:

  • Camp runs from July 5, 2018 to August 17, 2018. Additional days may be needed for training and set up. 
  • Hours are 9:30-2:30
  • Position salary is $15-$17 hourly, based on experience
