Awards Committee
Awards Committee – shall collect nominations for, review and choose award winners prior to the annual conference. The award recipients need to be presented to the executive board prior to the annual conference.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 6 new members
- Include the last 3 recipients of the Harlan “Gold” Metcalf Award and 3 others appointed by the chair
- Distribute nominations information and reminders
- Collect, review an choose award winners and present to Board prior to conference
- Choose and present awardees to board in July for fall conference and December for spring awards dinner
- Create letters of congratulations, plaques and certificates
- Put award descriptions and awardees information on website
Conference Committee
Conference Committee – shall arrange the annual conference, subject to approval of the executive board.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 20 new members including:
- 2 for the auction and raffle
- One for registration
- 2 Conference Chairs
- 2 Workshop Chairs
- One for speaker outreach
- One to recruit exhibitors
- 2 for hospitality
- 2 for AV and room set-up
- One evaluations
- 2 for coordinating off-site field trips
- 2 for community service
- One for awards
- 6 runners
- Meet at least 6 times in the year prior to the conference in person or electronically
- Visit and be familiar with the conference site
- Have conference chairs report at board meetings for one year prior to the conference
Constitution Review Committee
Constitution Review Committee – shall review the constitution and Bylaws as needed.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 5 new members
- At least one member with 10 or more years experience in EE/OE
- At least one member of the committee should be familiar with administrative practices.
- Review constitution at least twice annually/ in person or teleconference
- Make recommendations for change should be presented to the board at least 60 days prior to annual conference so that they can be presented at the annual meeting.
Diversity Committee
Diversity Committee – shall find ways to increase the diversity of the NYSOEA membership.
Goals:
- Recruit a new and diverse membership
- Report directly to the membership committee and VP of Human Resource

Educational Development Committee
Educational Development Committee – shall recommend action and procedures to augment outdoor education and shall collect and distribute pertinent information and materials.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 5 new members
- At least 2 members of university faculty or school administrations
- At least one EE administrator
- Meet at least twice per year
- Create a report for annual review which is due 60 days prior to annual conference
- Establish relationships with superintendents, schools administrations and the NYS education department

Finance Committee
Finance Committee – shall supervise the preparation of the budget and other finance related matters.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 4 new members
- Meet at least 4 times per year in person or electronically
- Work directly with the treasurer to create a balanced budget
Membership Committee
Membership Committee – shall coordinate all public relations and promotional activities.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 5 new members
- Recruit and retain at minimum 400 members by 2011
- Produce membership brochure
- Meet at least 4 times per year
Nomination and Election Committee
Nomination and Election Committee – Shall supervise the nomination and election according to the policies of the Association.
Goals:
- Will include 5 members appointed by the President within 3 months following the annual meeting
- Recruit at least 5 new members each
- Solicit recommendations for new board members
- Have at least two people per region on the ballot
- Create nomination document which includes rules for nomination and incorporates biography, contact information and permission of the nominee
- Create ballot document that includes a biography of the nominee which is due at least 60 days before the conference
- Create ballot each region to eliminate outside voting
Publications Committee
Publications Committee – Shall supervise the Association wide publications. Editors of all such publications shall be members of this committee.
Goals:
- Recruit 7 to 10 new members including:
- A webmaster
- Someone to lay out newsletters
- Two editors
- A VP of Communications
- Devote at least 2 members to soliciting ads and articles for publications
- Meet at least 4 times per year
Chair:

Resource Committee
Resource Committee – shall supervise and develop strategies for obtaining funding.
Goals:
- Recruit at least 5 new members
- Raise at least $20,000 per year beginning in 2011
- Continue to grow donor list with letters, calls and follow-up
- Research grant opportunities
